Heat milk in the microwave until warm
Combine yeast, sugar & milk together and leave aside until it froths
In a separate bowl place the flour, salt, butter, egg and the yeast mixture and mix well using a whisk
Transfer the dough onto a work surface and knead it for 8-10 mins ( You can also use the stand mixer or handheld mixer with the hook attachment to knead the dough)
Place the kneaded dough in a bowl, cover and rest until doubled in size
once doubled in size, knock the air out and turn the dough out on to a surface dusted with flour and roll it out to a 1 cm thickness, using a rolling pin
Cut the dough using two rounds ( big round and slightly small round) or by using a dough cutter. This should resemble a circle with a hole in the middle
Place the donuts on a tray lined with baking paper and let it rest in a warm area until doubled in size
Heat a pot with oil to 190C
Once heated carefully drop the donuts into the oil and let it cook and colour on one side, then flip it over and cook the other side
Once cooked transfer them onto a paper towel to drain and cool down
