Tipo 00 Italian restaurant in Melbourne – Best Italian

tipo 00 10 780x1040 1

Do you want to dine at the best Italian restaurant in Melbourne? Then look no further and check out this review on Tipo 00. Tipo 00 Italian restaurant definitely deserves a spot in my top dining recommendations, keep reading as to what dish I thought was hands-down the best dish in town and what you should definitely order.

Most of you who know me, I work as a full-time food product developer, and as a part of our ‘EDUCATIONAL & INSPIRATIONAL TRAINING’ 😉 Once a month as a team, we dine at a restaurant. When I say educational outing, it is actually with a few glasses of wine 🙂 The week before Australia went into lockdown for the COVID pandemic, we were grateful that we were able to visit Tipo 00

We were a group of 8 people. The food at Tipo 00 was amazing and hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in Melbourne.

Highlight of the night?

The only thing is, this place is small, so you just got to sit in one place and not move around 🙂 Oh I almost forgot on a side note we met Liam Hemsworth on the day which was kind of another great highlight of this awesome dinner.

The shared menu at Tipo 00 for a large group?

The menu will differ from group to group But this is what we got:

The winning dish for me was definitely the Burrata, it was so creamy and soft. Make sure to order it, you won’t be tasting anything like that anywhere else.
Grilled ox tongue, balsamic & pink peppercorns which were flavourful but it was a bit on the dry side.

Then we had the squid ink tagliolini, which I loved and thought it was well executed.
Polenta fritta – Crunchy rosemary Polenta chips which were a crowd favourite.

Gnocchi di patate – braised duck, porcini & pecorino pepato was the best gnocchi I have ever tasted, it was soft as a pillow and melting in the mouth, make sure to order it, as it is hands down the best gnocchi in town.

For desserts, we had Tipomisù – chocolate, coffee & mascarpone which is kind of like a deconstructed tiramisu and Bomboloni – ricotta doughnuts.
We had a few vegetarians in the group, so the menu was catered to suit everyone.
